Painter jobs in San Juan, Puerto Rico

Labor Online connects painters with homeowners booking everything from a single room touch-up to a full exterior repaint. You pick the jobs that fit your week and set the rate. Smaller jobs run $25–$200; multi-day projects are quoted and negotiated through the app's messaging.

About the role

Painting demand cycles with seasons in PR — interior work picks up in summer (rainy months drive people indoors) and exteriors run year-round between storms. Cabinet painting and deck staining are steady mid-ticket jobs that book consistently.

Customers send you photos and dimensions before booking. You quote off photos for multi-day jobs and confirm pricing on arrival. Smaller touch-ups and single-room repaints use the standard rate sheet you set in your profile.

Contract terms, pay & hours

This is a 1099 independent contractor role, not employment with Labor Online.

1099 independent contractor — not employment. You set your own rates and schedule. Keep 100% of the rate you list; the customer pays a platform fee on top. Weekly Stripe payouts. Multi-day projects are quoted directly with the customer through the app; the platform handles invoicing and payouts as you complete milestones.

Painters on Labor Online typically work in concentrated blocks — a full Saturday for a single-room repaint, a multi-day stretch for an exterior. Set your weekly capacity in your profile so jobs don't stack.

Frequently asked questions

Trade-specific answers first, followed by the basics.

You see the customer's photos and scope before quoting. Quote in the app's messaging thread; once the customer accepts, the app converts the quote into a booking and handles payment in milestones (50% on start, 50% on completion is typical).
Usually the customer buys the paint (they choose the color and brand) and you bring the consumables — drop cloths, tape, brushes, rollers. You can also offer to buy the paint and bill the customer with markup — set this in your profile.
Set your warranty terms in your profile (e.g., 'free touch-up within 30 days for paint defects'). It's between you and the customer; Labor Online won't override your warranty terms.
Earnings depend on your category, the rates you set, and how many jobs you accept each week. You list the base price; what you list is what you take home. Higher-skill trades like electrical and AC tend to command higher rates than general cleaning.
All payments are processed securely through Stripe and deposited directly to your bank account within 2 business days of completing a job. No cash, no waiting, no surprises.
Absolutely. You see every task before you accept — category, location, rate, duration. You're in complete control of your schedule and the jobs you take on.
You keep 100% of your listed rate. Customers pay a platform fee on top — 15% + $3 per booking — which covers payments, support, and customer acquisition. Stripe handles the processing; nothing comes out of your pocket.
Yes — for most categories, providers bring their own tools. The job description tells you exactly what's expected, and many providers bill supplies separately to the customer.
As fast as you can complete the onboarding checklist — phone verification, ID check via Stripe Identity, Stripe Connect payouts, services and rates, availability. Once every step on the dashboard checklist is green, you can start accepting tasks. Most providers complete onboarding in 3–7 days.
