Mover jobs in San Juan, Puerto Rico

Labor Online connects movers and heavy-lift pros with customers booking local moves, single-room help, appliance moves, and loading/unloading. PR's high turnover (rentals, students, military relocations) keeps moving demand steady year-round.

About the role

Moving on Labor Online runs from one-hour heavy-lift help to full-day local moves. The customer specifies item counts, distance, and whether they need a truck — you accept based on what you can handle solo or with your team.

Most movers on the platform work in 2–3 person crews. You can list as solo or as a crew; crew jobs route to whoever's listed as the lead and the lead handles team payouts.

What you'll work on

  • Local moves (single room, apartment, small house)
  • Heavy lifting — sofas, beds, refrigerators, washers
  • Appliance disconnect and reconnect (no-water/no-electrical scope)
  • Loading and unloading rental trucks
  • Furniture moving within a home (rearranging)
  • Packing assistance (where offered)

Qualifications

  • Physical capacity to lift 75+ lbs repeatedly
  • Moving straps, dollies, and basic blankets
  • Reliable vehicle (truck or trailer access is a plus)
  • Smartphone with data
  • Clean background check
  • At least 18 years old with authorization to work in PR

Contract terms, pay & hours

This is a 1099 independent contractor role, not employment with Labor Online.

1099 independent contractor — not employment. You set your rates, hours, and crew structure. Keep 100% of the rate you list; the customer pays a platform fee on top. Weekly Stripe payouts. If you run a crew, you handle payouts to your team members. You handle your own taxes.

Moving is weekend-heavy — Saturdays book out fastest. Movers on Labor Online typically run 4–8 jobs a week, with most concentrated Friday–Sunday. Mid-week is dominated by single-room help and appliance moves.

Frequently asked questions

Trade-specific answers first, followed by the basics.

Depends on the job. Most customers booking a move have already rented a truck (or will). The booking specifies whether the mover needs to bring transport. You can filter to only see jobs that don't require you to provide a truck.
Labor Online is currently scoped to local moves within the metro area. Inter-island and mainland moves require interstate moving authority (DOT number) and aren't supported on the platform yet.
List yourself as the crew lead and set crew size (2 or 3). Crew jobs route only to you; you handle team coordination and pay your crew members directly. The platform fee is the same as for solo movers — you just charge a higher base rate to cover crew payouts.
Earnings depend on your category, the rates you set, and how many jobs you accept each week. You list the base price; what you list is what you take home. Higher-skill trades like electrical and AC tend to command higher rates than general cleaning.
All payments are processed securely through Stripe and deposited directly to your bank account within 2 business days of completing a job. No cash, no waiting, no surprises.
Absolutely. You see every task before you accept — category, location, rate, duration. You're in complete control of your schedule and the jobs you take on.
You keep 100% of your listed rate. Customers pay a platform fee on top — 15% + $3 per booking — which covers payments, support, and customer acquisition. Stripe handles the processing; nothing comes out of your pocket.
Yes — for most categories, providers bring their own tools. The job description tells you exactly what's expected, and many providers bill supplies separately to the customer.
As fast as you can complete the onboarding checklist — phone verification, ID check via Stripe Identity, Stripe Connect payouts, services and rates, availability. Once every step on the dashboard checklist is green, you can start accepting tasks. Most providers complete onboarding in 3–7 days.
